The President of IPDAL participated in the Iberoamerican Business Summit of CEAL (Confederation of Latin American Entrepreneurs) which took place in Panama City on the 16th, 17th and 18th of October. Paulo Neves participated in the Summit’s work and took the opportunity to hold meetings with the Presidents of the Republic of Paraguay, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America distinguished the Ambassador of Ecuador, Diego Aulestia, with the IPDAL – Vista Alegre Award. On October 22, 2013, the President of IPDAL dedicated words of recognition and praise to the Ambassador who returns to Quito to join the team of the President of the Republic of Ecuador. The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America (IPDAL), in collaboration with the Order of Pharmacists, held a business forum dedicated to promoting the internationalization of Portuguese pharmaceutical companies in Latin America. The President of AICEP declared, at the end of the work, that “two priorities of the Portuguese Government were brought together: Latin America and the pharmaceutical sector”. The President and Vice-President of IPDAL were present at the II Algarve Business Forum, organized by LIDE Portugal. On the weekend of October 4th to 6th, IPDAL directors, accompanied by one of the Board’s advisors, attended conferences and debates on business prospects in Portugal and Portuguese companies with Europe, Latin America and Africa . Present at the II Algarve Business Forum were the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, the President of the European Commission and some of the country’s main businesspeople.
IPDAL co-organized a meeting of Portuguese businesspeople with the President of the Republic of Panama. The meeting was attended by more than 100 businesspeople and took place at the Hotel Lapa Palace, in Lisbon, on the 30th of July. President Martinelli made an initial speech about Panama and then answered questions from businesspeople present. At the opening of the work, the Ambassador of Panama in Lisbon highlighted the importance of IPDAL in relations between Portugal and Panama.
The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America presented the IPDAL – Vista Alegre Prize to the Ambassador of Peru, Nestor Popolizio. The tribute took place at the Grémio Literário Library, in Lisbon, and was attended by several Ambassadors and Diplomats, Businessmen, Politicians , Friends and Members of IPDAL. The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America once again had a full house at the Sky Bar, at the Tivoli Lisboa Hotel, with its Friends and Partners. On July 17, 2013, IPDAL and Hotel Tivoli brought together businesspeople, politicians, current and former government officials of Portugal, journalists and academics at the II Latin American Sunset Party. Diplomats from Latin America, Portugal and the rest of Europe, Asia and North America were present. The Institute’s sponsors had their presence assured, through the presence of communication material and corporate image at the event location.
The President of IPDAL met, in Lisbon, with the President of the Latin American Business Council (CEAL). Paulo Neves and Samuel Cantoral decided to sign a Protocol of Understanding between the two institutions. The President of CEAL invited IPDAL to be present at the next summit of Latin American businesspeople that will take place in October in Panama City. CEAL brings together the main Latin American companies in the most diverse business areas. The meeting between CEAL and IPDAL took place on the 16th of July.
The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America took a delegation of ambassadors from Latin America, on an official visit, to the Madeira archipelago. Between the 11th and 14th of May 2013, a group of Latin American ambassadors and diplomats held a series of institutional, business and cultural contacts in the autonomous region of Madeira.
