IPDAL was the guest of honor at two business forums organized in the Paraguayan cities of Encarnación and Ciudad del Este. The National University of Itapúa called on the Mayor of Encarnación and the region’s main businesspeople to get to know Portuguese companies and explore new business opportunities. Portuguese companies presented themselves to the auditorium and met future partners and customers, having established important contacts for the implementation of their businesses. The same format was applied in Ciudad del Este, with the Department of Commerce and Tourism of the Central Government convening the main businesspeople in the region.

The Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America (IPDAL) was invited by TAP Portugal to organize a seminar on Latin America for 150 company staff. The President of IPDAL was invited to give a lecture on the current political and economic scenario in Latin America. The President of IPDAL, Paulo Neves, participated in the dinner in honor of the Secretary General of SEGIB, which took place at Casa das Américas, in Madrid, on March 4th. Enrique Iglesias was honored by the Diplomatic Corps and the biggest Spanish businessmen and bankers. Enrique Iglesias ends his term as General Secretary of SEGIB this month. The five companies that took part in the most recent working trip to Paraguay committed to returning in the coming months to carry out the business promoted by IPDAL. The President of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, decorated the Secretary General of SEGIB, Enrique Iglesias, with the Order of Infante D.Henrique. The ceremony took place at the Belém Presidential Palace, in Lisbon, on February 14th. Enrique Iglesias ends his duties as Secretary General of SEGIB (Community of Ibero-American countries) in March. Deputy Sérgio Sousa Pinto accepted IPDAL’s invitation to meet with the Ambassadors of Latin America and present the priorities of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. In his speech, the Deputy presented Portugal as Europe’s gateway to the World and stated the great potential that relations between Portugal and Latin America could have in recovering the country’s political, economic and geostrategic position. In the presence of the Minister of Social Solidarity, several Secretaries of State and the President of AICEP, the Vice-Prime Minister, Paulo Portas, stated that the attribution of the IPDAL – Vista Alegre Prize represents, more than a recognition, an incentive to his work as ruler of Portugal.
