Deputy Sérgio Sousa Pinto accepted IPDAL’s invitation to meet with the Ambassadors of Latin America and present the priorities of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.
In his speech, the Deputy presented Portugal as Europe’s gateway to the World and stated the great potential that relations between Portugal and Latin America could have in recovering the country’s political, economic and geostrategic position.
He also stated that Portugal is one of the great advocates of Latin America in Europe and that this role must be explored and reinforced. The present European international context was, in general, very focused in the exhibition.

The Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives made their interventions in a common sense, to strengthen relations between Portugal and Latin America, with emphasis on parliamentary diplomacy, stating that their countries have a great interest in the national territory.
The Meeting took place on January 28, 2014, at Grémio Literário, and was attended by representatives of the Government of Portugal, the Prime Minister’s office, the Presidency of the Republic, deputies to the Assembly of the Republic, SEGIB, Companies, representatives of the Catholic University and the Political Observatory.
