IPDAL and ACIF (Commercial and Industrial Association of Funchal) organized a breakfast between the Ambassador of Brazil and the Chairman and CEOs of the largest companies in Madeira. The meeting took place in the city of Funchal on April 21st. The President and Secretary General of IPDAL signed the book of condolences opened at the Colombian Embassy, upon the death of Gabriel García Márquez. It was with great sadness that the Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America, and all its collaborators, received the news of the death of the Colombian Nobel Prize winner for Literature. With his genius and charisma, one of the main figures in the history of world writing left a legacy for eternity capable of inspiring all of humanity. IPDAL thus reiterates the tribute paid to Gabriel García Márquez.

Before the closure of the Ecuadorian Embassy in Portugal, the Chargé d’Affaires sent a note of thanks and praise to IPDAL. In the document, the diplomat in charge of heading the Ecuadorian mission in Lisbon, from November 2011 to April 2014, expresses “the greatest recognition for the friendship and cooperation” promoted by IPDAL with the Embassy. Erick Medina considered that “IPDAL’s contribution to better understanding and rapprochement between Ecuador and Portugal deserves to be replicated by other bodies”, guaranteeing that the “dynamism and commitment demonstrated are exemplary”.

The President of IPDAL met again with the former President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, during his last visit to Lisbon. Paulo Neves participated in an initiative with diplomats and businesspeople. The former President of Brazil gave a detailed presentation of the country’s current economic situation. Lula da Silva classified Brazil as “a country with great opportunities for Portuguese companies” and presented “successful” macroeconomic and social data in Brazil.

IPDAL and TAP signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen relations with Latin America.
