Enrique Iglesias honored by Portugal

The President of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, decorated the Secretary General of SEGIB, Enrique Iglesias, with the Order of Infante D.Henrique. The ceremony took place at the Belém Presidential Palace, in Lisbon, on February 14th. Enrique Iglesias ends his duties as Secretary General of SEGIB (Community of Ibero-American countries) in March. To the ceremony at the Presidential Palace, the President of the Republic invited the Latin American ambassadors in Portugal and the President of IPDAL, Paulo Neves.

The President of IPDAL classified it as “a fair distinction from Portugal to a great diplomat who has done a lot to bring Portugal and Spain closer together throughout Latin America”. Paulo Neves added that IPDAL maintains a “very close relationship with Enrique Iglesias as D. Enrique is the Honorary President of the annual Meeting of the Latin America-Europe-Africa Strategic Triangle, organized by IPDAL”. Enrique Iglesias has also been distinguished by the IPDAL-Vista Alegre Award, an award that serves to honor personalities or institutions that promote relations between Portugal and Latin America and that support IPDAL. Also in January, the President and Secretary of IPDAL held a farewell meeting with Enrique Iglesias at the SEGIB headquarters in Madrid.
