On the occasion of his visit to Paraguay, Paulo Neves met with Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of the Latin American country. Elected at the end of April, Santiago Peña had previously participated in IPDAL’s main event, the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” Meeting. During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and a future visit to Lisbon were discussed.
On his most recent official visit to Peru, the President of IPDAL held a series of meetings, first meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ignacio Higueras. He met with the Secretary General of the Andean Community, Ambassador Gonzalo Gutierres to sign a cooperation protocol between the two organizations, and also met with Edgardo Alvarez, Secretary General of ALIDE – Latin American Association of Financial Institutions for the Development. These meetings discussed ways to strengthen Ibero-American integration through deepening financial relations between Latin American development banks and Portugal and also ways to increase the visibility of these countries.…
Together with the Office for Spain, Italy and Portugal of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, IPDAL organized a dinner with the Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Wolfgang Kubicki. This meeting brought together Ambassador Julia Monar from the German Embassy in Portugal, deputies to the Assembly of the Republic, academics and business leaders at the table to hear Vice-President Kubicki’s vision on European current affairs. The dinner debate saw all participants speak and present their opinions and questions on various topics, from the war in Ukraine to inflation.

Dr. João Novais de Paula became Honorary President of the General Assembly and Fiscal Council of IPDAL. In a Ceremony in his Homage, and in his Memory, this decision by the respective Bodies of the Institute was announced. For the first time in the history of IPDAL, all the Institute’s Bodies (General Assembly, Management, Supervisory Board and Advisory Board) gathered simultaneously to honor and remember the “exceptional figure” that was Dr. João Novais de Paula.
