Sebastião Bugalho was the guest speaker at another edition of IPDAL’s Political Rentrée, a unique opportunity to inform the diplomatic corps about what the political year will be like for Portugal. The known opinion maker , a regular presence on television and in the written press, spoke about topics such as inflation, the war in Ukraine and the expected impact of the European elections on national politics. IPDAL organized a lunch on the occasion of the visit to Portugal of Professor Norbert Lammert, President of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and former President of the Bundestag. The working lunch was attended by some of the most prominent opinion makers of Portugal, as well as representatives of international organizations and foreign diplomats. Norbert Lammert presented his vision on the challenges Europe currently faces, and then answered several questions presented by the guests.
IPDAL organized a visit to Sofarimex, part of the Azevedos Group, where the Latin American diplomatic corps could find out more about this Portuguese medicine company with a strong international presence. The delegation was received by the President of the Board of Directors, Thebar Miranda, and received a guided tour of the facilities, where they could watch the process of creating and packaging the medicines. Supporting the internationalization of Portuguese companies continues to be one of the Institute’s priorities.
On July 13th, IPDAL held the X Latin American Sunset Party, welcoming the summer with a reception offered to the diplomatic corps and friends of the Institute. During the event, the IPDAL-Vista Alegre Award was presented to the Ambassador of Uruguay, Álvaro Malmierca, on the occasion of the end of his mission in Portugal and in recognition of the work carried out to bring the two countries closer together. On the occasion of his official visit to Central America, the President of IPDAL was received in Costa Rica by the Minister of Economy of that country, Francisco Gamboa. He also held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lydia Peralta, in addition to a series of working meetings with commercial associations, universities and academics, which allowed us to better understand this market.

IPDAL took the Latin American ambassadors on a tourist visit to Porto on May 27th, passing through emblematic places in the city. The social program began with a trip to the Serralves Foundation, where the collections on display were explored and a walk through the gardens was taken. During the afternoon the group explored the Episcopal Palace and the Porto Cathedral, followed by a boat cruise along the Douro River and the day ended with dinner at Caves Cálem.
