IPDAL was present at the 48th APAVT Congress, in Porto, with its own stand where it promoted Latin American destinations. During the Congress, the Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives were with the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Nuno Fazenda. This event annually brings together hundreds of professionals in the sector and is considered the main forum dedicated to tourism in Portugal. This year the theme of the initiative was artificial intelligence.

On the occasion of the 48th APAVT Congress, IPDAL organized a visit to the city with Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives residing in Portugal. The Latin American diplomatic corps was joined by the Ambassador of India, Manish Chauhan, on a private visit to the Church of Santa Clara, one of the best examples of gilded carvings in the Johannine Baroque style. This was followed by a wine tasting offered by Porto Réccua Vinhos, where the diplomats were able to appreciate the offer from this company that brings together the Adegas Cooperativas da Régua, Tabuaço and Armamar.

Following the recent visit to Peru, IPDAL organized a conference with the Peruvian Diplomatic Academy dedicated to the Middle East. Felipe Pathé Duarte presented an overview of the Middle East, in particular the Israel-Hamas conflict and the implications it has for the region’s stability and balance of powers. The diplomats in training watched the presentation and at the end they presented a series of questions on the topic, in a question and answer session with the speaker.

Ambassador Rodolfo Gil, from Argentina, was awarded the IPDAL-Vista Alegre Award, at the end of the mission. The IPDAL – Vista Alegre Award serves to honor entities and personalities that distinguished themselves in promoting Latin America and strengthening its relations with Portugal. It also rewards Latin American Ambassadors who the Institute considers to have been exceptional in carrying out their duties. The event was attended by the Apostolic Nuncio, Ambassadors of Latin America, other diplomats, members and friends of IPDAL.
