The Institute managed to bring the Australian think tank to Portugal Institute for Economics and Peace to hold the first public presentation of the Global Peace Index in the country. On the 10th, the President of IPDAL began a working visit to Latin America. Buenos Aires was his first stop. Dr. Paulo Neves had a series of meetings with the Government of the Argentine Republic, represented by the Director for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Claudio Giacomino, and renowned institutions, such as the Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales and the Fundación Nuevas Generaciones . Paraguay was the second stop in the cycle of official visits to Latin America by the President of IPDAL. The Institute awarded the IPDAL – Vista Alegre Prize to the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Professor Augusto Santos Silva. At the ceremony, which was attended by dozens of ambassadors from all continents and representatives of international organizations, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the work of IPDAL and highlighted the importance of Latin America for Portuguese parliamentary diplomacy. On May 23rd, IPDAL organized a lunch with Christian Asinelli, Vice-President for Strategic Programming at CAF – Development Bank of Latin America. The event was attended by several guests from different sectors of Portuguese society, such as representatives of the Government and the Ministry of Finance, Assembly of the Republic, Diplomatic Corps, Professional Orders, private sector, associative sector, multinational companies and the media. The Vice-President of CAF presented the institution, detailing its various components and objectives for the future, followed by a question and answer session.
The President of IPDAL, Dr. Paulo Neves, paid a working visit to the Dominican Republic. Between May 11 and 16, he had several meetings with Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, in which issues such as bilateral relations with Portugal and the need to establish a Portuguese embassy in the country were discussed.
