On the Institute’s 16th anniversary, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation left words of encouragement for IPDAL. The President of IPDAL, Dr. Paulo Neves, was distinguished by the Government of Brazil as Grand Officer of the Order of Rio Branco. The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, and the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias, were also awarded the decoration. This Order, received for “relevant services rendered in favor of Portuguese-Brazilian friendship and cooperation” as mentioned by the Brazilian Embassy in Portugal, is the highest decoration granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After a year without taking place due to the pandemic, the largest diplomatic event of social solidarity in the country, which annually brings together embassies and main international organizations, once again had the participation of IPDAL. On the occasion of its 55th anniversary as an independent nation, Barbados no longer recognizes Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State. The former Governor-General, Sandra Mason, became President, having taken office on November 30th. His functions will remain essentially the same, with the difference that he now acts as Head of State of Barbados. Andrés Allamand was the Guest of Honor at the VI Ibero-American Meeting in Cascais. The initiative managed to bring together representatives from governments, investment agencies and some of the largest companies in Portugal, Spain and Chile. The Secretary General of the Institute carried out IPDAL’s first international trip since the beginning of the pandemic. The agenda included working meetings with the most diverse local actors, including commitments of the following nature: political, diplomatic, business, associations, media, academic, sporting and humanitarian.
