The seventh edition of the initiative brought together the government of Portugal, SEGIB and the new Executive Secretary of the CPLP.
On November 3, 2021, IPDAL once again promoted the only permanent meeting platform between diplomatic representatives from Latin America and the CPLP.
It was the Institute’s first initiative in which the new head of the CPLP, Zacarias da Costa, participated. Also participating were the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Francisco André and the Secretary General ad interim from SEGIB, ambassador Marcos Pinta Gama.
Taking into account IPDAL’s aim to define and defend a common agenda for both blocs, with measurable results in the short term but without forgetting the root causes of the structural problems that affect Latin American and CPLP societies, the Institute presented an analysis updated south-south cooperation with a focus on the agri-food sector, recognizing its importance as a point of convergence between the installed capacity of Latin America and the resources and potential of the African continent.
This meeting also served to announce the next steps towards its VIII edition, which intends to be held in Luanda (Angola) in 2022, in order to move towards the consolidation of this common agenda, thus promoting the development of agroindustry, economic sustainability and the resilience of societies.
The initiative had the support of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Nova Câmbios.
