IPDAL signed a Cooperation Protocol with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. The document was signed by the Rector of the University of Santo Domingo – the oldest university in all of Latin America – and by the president of IPDAL, respectively Franklin Garcia Fermín and Paulo Neves. The President of the IPDAL Supervisory Board, Antonieta Kruger, participated in a Colloquium at the Assembly of the Republic, organized by the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. The theme of the meeting was “Integration efforts in Latin America – Brazil’s perspective. Mercosur negotiations”. The dinner served to promote one of the most beautiful historic Portuguese villages. The Governor of the Atlantic Region, Eduardo Verano de la Rosa and his delegation, was received by the President of the Board and the President of the IPDAL Advisory Council on the 11th of June. The Governor was accompanied by the Ambassador of Colombia to Portugal, Arturo Sarabia. The Republic of Chile awarded Portuguese businessman Américo Amorim the Grand Officer Bernardo O’Higgins Order. IPDAL was represented by its President and Vice-President of the board. In his speech, Américo Amorim recalled the business he has been doing with Chile since the 1950s. Ambassador Ayala recalled that half of Portuguese exports to Chile are the responsibility of Américo Amorim’s companies. The decoration took place on May 26, 2010.

The Argentine Ambassador to Portugal, Jorge Faurie, hosted a reception in Lisbon – at the Jerónimos Monastery – for the Argentine community in Portugal and a group of guests. IPDAL was represented by the Presidents of the Board and the Supervisory Board. In his speech, Ambassador Faurie surveyed the 200 years of Argentine history and the relations between that country and Portugal. He recalled that Portugal was the first country in the world to recognize the Republic of Argentina. Several ambassadors accredited in Portugal were present at the Reception. The leader of the Social Democratic Party, Pedro Passos Coelho, met this Monday with Latin American ambassadors and members of IPDAL at a meeting organized by the Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America (IPDAL).
