For two days, the Institute for the Promotion and Development of Latin America (IPDAL) carried out several initiatives to promote Honduras, in Lisbon. With the support of the Embassy of Honduras accredited in Lisbon, academic, business, institutional and cultural meetings were held. Ambassador José Ignacio Korzeniak, Ambassador of Uruguay in Lisbon, was decorated by the Government of Mexico with the Order of the Aztec Eagle. On October 1st, the Ambassador of Mexico, Benito Andión, distinguished his Uruguayan counterpart with the highest decoration given to foreigners by Mexico, in a ceremony attended by the President of IPDAL, Paulo Neves. The Order of the Aztec Eagle was created in 1932 by President Abelardo Rodríguez Luhán, as an award for humanitarian services. The Vice-President and Secretary-General of IPDAL were invited to the first regular flight, by SATA Air Açores, between Lisbon and Salvador da Bahía, in Brazil. João Barreiras Duarte and Filipe Domingues were thus part of a list of personalities that the President of SATA, António Menezes, chose to carry out his first flight on this new route which, not only, reinforces air links between Portugal and Brazil, but also is SATA’s first destination in Latin America. IPDAL organized and monitored the mission of a group of Portuguese companies to four Latin American countries. Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru were the destinations selected by IPDAL as being the most attractive for the sectors represented. IPDAL, as a result of its contact base and the efforts carried out with the most diverse entities, achieved an agenda of meetings at the highest level, with leaders from the public and private sectors. The Secretary General of IPDAL was present at the presentation of the theme and logo of the 38th Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies. IPDAL marked the beginning of summer with a reception at the Sky Bar of the Tivoli Lisboa Hotel. On July 19th, several personalities attended the IPDAL initiative. The President and Secretary General of IPDAL were received by the Director General of Foreign Policy and the Director of Services for the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At Palácio das Necessidades, in Lisbon, Paulo Neves and Filipe Domingues had the opportunity to present the mission and portfolio of the Institute. IPDAL projects were identified where there is a clear coincidence with the objectives and activities of the Foreign Policy Directorate and the ties that are allowing an increasingly closer relationship between the MNE and IPDAL were strengthened.
An IPDAL delegation was received, this Friday, by Minister Paulo Portas. The President, the General Secretary and a member of the IPDAL Board presented to the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs the calendar of IPDAL’s next initiatives and the IPDAL strategy Institute for the coming months. At the meeting, which took place at Palácio das Necessidades, principles of common action were agreed, with evident and reciprocal added value, particularly in terms of the Ministry’s institutional support for future activities developed by IPDAL.
IPDAL held a networking breakfast between the Embassy of Ecuador and the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT).
