At the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps and Friends of the Institute, the Secretary of State for Internationalization praised the work of IPDAL. Following the bus accident in Pasamayo, the President of IPDAL expressed to the Ambassador of Peru the Institute’s availability for any form of support. IPDAL supported the organization of an academic conference with the former President of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo. At the European University, in Lisbon, the former Head of State spoke about “Globalization in the Era of Populism”. In an auditorium filled with students of various nationalities, Latin American ambassadors and diplomats were present, among other IPDAL guests such as the Representative of the Organization of Ibero-American States in Portugal. The Mayor of Braga thanked the partnership with IPDAL, in the closing speech of the Ibero-American Youth Capital. The Secretary General of the Institute was present at the ceremony and the official dinner that marked the conclusion of the activities organized by Braga, as the first European city chosen to receive this milestone. The Secretary General of IPDAL was at the charity dinner promoted by President Jorge Sampaio. The initiative, aimed at supporting the Support Platform for Syrian Students and aTTitude, took place on November 11th and brought together a group of large companies and personalities from Portuguese public life. This was the third edition of the Quarteto Gastronomico project, developed by aTTitude IPSS. Six dinners have already been organized, supported by more than 75 entities, which contributed to an amount of around 200 thousand euros, destined for the causes embraced by the Gastronomic Quartet.
For the first time, IPDAL held an international presentation of the conclusions of the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” Meeting. The President of IPDAL received the book “War in Latin America, from Mexican cartels to Colombian guerrillas”. The author, Ricardo Raposo Lopes, offered the Institute a copy of the work that addresses one of the most important and worrying issues in Latin America. The book is published by Chiado Editora. The author is a doctoral student at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and, in 2014, attended a curricular internship at IPDAL.
The President and Secretary General of the Institute were received by Ambassador Johana Tablada de la Torre, who, after four years, ends her mission in Lisbon. The purpose of the meeting was to congratulate the diplomat for the work carried out at the head of the Cuban mission in Lisbon and to thank the numerous occasions on which IPDAL and the embassy collaborated.
