The announcement came during the VI Meeting “Latin America – CPLP”, organized by IPDAL. Peru is expected to submit its formal application in the coming days to become an Associate Observer of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries. IPDAL was chosen by the Development Bank of Latin America to be the partner, in Portugal, of the “Ideas for the future” competition. This challenge aims to bring together the views of young university students on the development challenges faced by Latin America and the Caribbean. The competition is aimed at students mainly studying economics, international relations and management, but accepts applications from any area of knowledge. IPDAL joined the European University to promote research work in the area of Sustainable Tourism. On April 27th, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Latin American countries presented to students the challenges of recovering tourism in their respective countries. Bachelor’s degree finalists and master’s students from European University School of Tourism and Hospitality they learned about the characteristics, priorities and bets of Latin America to respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mexico considered the best country in the region to do business. IPDAL co-organized the inauguration of the V Argentine Cinema Festival. The initiative has been supported since the first edition by the Institute, which has already brought some of the most awarded South American directors to Portugal. Former Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization present at the IPDAL initiative. Taleb Rifai spoke about the economic, social and environmental sustainability of tourism in the 21st century, leaving political messages and strategic reflections for the Latin American ambassadors and businesspeople present. In a letter to the Ambassador of Mozambique, the President of the Institute expressed the Institute’s full availability to help the country recover from the damage caused by Cyclone Idai. President, Vice-President and Secretary General of IPDAL were part of the State visit of the President of Peru.
