In a letter to the Ambassador of Mozambique, the President of the Institute expressed the Institute’s full availability to help the country recover from the damage caused by Cyclone Idai.
Paulo Neves also acknowledged that it was “with enormous regret and consternation” that IPDAL followed the news about the destruction caused by the catastrophe. The President of the Institute expressed his “most sincere regret for the victims and missing people in this terrible situation” and expressed his “hope that the recovery will be as quick and lasting as possible, allowing the return of normality to the lives of the affected populations.”
The cyclone that hit Mozambique on March 11 left hundreds dead and missing, in addition to major shortages of food and health products, as well as enormous material damage to housing and infrastructure.
