12th Anniversary IPDAL

At the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps and Friends of the Institute, the Secretary of State for Internationalization praised the work of IPDAL.

Recognizing the Institute’s work in strengthening economic relations between Portugal and Latin America, Eurico Brilhante Dias reiterated the message that the government is available and interested in continuing to work with IPDAL in strengthening economic dynamics with the region. The member of the Government, who oversees the international expansion of Portuguese companies, also recognized that Latin American countries have been important for the affirmation of this national aim.

On January 23, 2018, the President of IPDAL took stock of the initiatives carried out by the Institute in the previous year and publicly announced the preparation of a working document with a set of suggestions so that Latin America could represent 4% of the total national exports, to be delivered to Portuguese institutions and authorities.

The President of Mota-Engil América Latina, Carlos Mota Santos, thanked the collaboration with IPDAL, recognizing the importance of the Institute in the company’s affirmation in specific markets in the Latin American region, and recalled the history of relationship between the two institutions.

The book “Latin America – History and Flavors” was also publicly launched , sponsored by IPDAL, authored by Margarida Pereira-Müller and edited by Colares Editora. This is the first book supported by the Institute, with the aim of promoting Latin American history, culture and traditions among the Portuguese public. It is already on newsstands.

At the ceremony, dozens of ambassadors were present – from Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia – including His Most Reverend Excellency The Apostolic Nuncio, honorary consuls, advisors from the Civil House of the President of the Republic of Portugal, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international organizations such as the European Parliament, the Organization of Ibero-American States, the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction, large institutions and companies such as Mota-Engil, TAP, Grupo Visabeira, Galp, COSEC, Deloitte, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, BBVA, CESO , Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho, Iberia, Garrigues, Carris, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language, UCCLA, former ministers of Portugal, deputies to the Assembly of the Republic, business associations, journalists and academics.
