The Institute organized a new working visit, for a group of Portuguese companies, to the cities of Bogotá and Medellín. The Engineering and Construction, Information Technologies and Catering sectors were represented. The visit was accompanied by the Secretary General of IPDAL, who assisted the companies in the various meetings they held with: institutional, commercial contacts, partners, customers, among others. Paulo Neves, President of IPDAL, met with the former President of Cape Verde, Pedro Pires. The former President heads the Pedro Pires Institute for Leadership (IPPL), with whom IPDAL has a Protocol. At this meeting, which took place in Lisbon, they spoke about future joint initiatives. The Pedro Pires Institute will participate in the V Meeting of the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America-Europe-Africa”, which will take place in Lisbon in April 2016. The President of IPDAL participated in an International Meeting on Iberoamerica, in Madrid, and had lunch with the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs. Paulo Neves was invited by Casa de América to the conference “Iberoamérica nos une”. The Meeting featured interventions by the Head of Diplomacy of Madrid, José Manuel García Margallo, the General Secretary of SEGIB, Rebeca Grynspan and the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Edgardo Riveros, among other personalities. According to the Latinobarómetro study, Ecuador and Bolivia were the countries in the region that recorded the most significant socioeconomic progress. The President and Secretary General of IPDAL met with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev. On November 3, 2015, the Institute’s leaders were invited by the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Todor Stoyanov, to the event where the Head of State of this country was present. IPDAL supported the organization of the business seminar, collaborating with the embassy in sending invitations and contacting some of the main Portuguese companies. The World Bank argues that, in order to face the reduction in raw material prices and zero economic growth, Latin American countries must readjust their external accounts and reduce internal spending.
