11 years after its foundation, IPDAL changes its image and now means “Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean”. During meetings held at the General Assembly, Management and Advisory Council, the change to the name, corporate image and corporate purpose of the Institute was approved. Pianist Polly Ferman was in Lisbon, at the invitation of the Institute, for a concert as part of Uruguay Week in Portugal. On the 6th of March, at the Ajuda National Palace, the concert in honor of the Centenary of Tango “La Cumparsita” took place, a work created by the Uruguayan musician Gerardo Matos Rodríguez. The Institute supports the opening of the “Frida Miranda” exhibition, inspired by the iconography of two of the main Latin American artists of the 20th century. The President of the Institute participated in the Meeting organized by CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, at the London School of Economics. The President and Secretary General of the Institute had a working dinner with the Ambassadors of Ecuador and Guatemala. On January 16th, IPDAL leaders presented the activity plan for 2017 to the two diplomats, who are accredited with the Government of Portugal but resident, respectively, in London and Paris.
