On 8 and 9 November, the Diplomatic Bazaar 2024, held in Belém, was a great success, bringing together representatives from different nations and celebrating global cultural wealth. Between 24 and 26 October, IPDAL attended the 49th National Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT), held in Huelva, Spain. This event brought together more than 300 participants, including the main hotel groups, airlines, travel agencies and tour operators, as well as institutional and government representatives from Portugal and Spain. With the support of the Latin American embassies, IPDAL organised a stand dedicated to promoting the various tourist attractions of Latin American countries. IPDAL had the honour of participating in the closing of the ‘Resilient, Regenerated and Revitalised Cities’ seminar, which took place recently. This event focused on discussing the environmental and social challenges facing cities today. During the seminar, exchanges were promoted on new territorial paradigms aimed at sustainability, emphasising the importance of collaboration and innovation in creating more resilient cities. On 16 October 2024, a working lunch was held between representatives of our institution and Sergio Diaz Granados, Executive President of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. During this meeting, the possibilities of a strategic partnership between the two institutions were discussed, as well as the calendar of activities planned for 2025. This event reaffirms the ongoing commitment to sustainable development and co-operation between Europe and Latin America, highlighting the opportunities that arise from this collaboration.
On 17 October, another edition of the Political Rentrée took place at the Grémio Literário. The event was attended by the Honourable José Aguiar-Branco, President of the Assembly of the Republic, as well as representatives from all the Latin American embassies: Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile and El Salvador. Over lunch, the participants discussed relevant current global political issues, thus marking the resumption of institutional activities.
On the 11th and 12th of October, Casa de Santa Maria was the stage for the Foreign Policy and Strategic Thinking meeting, an IPDAL initiative with the support of Cascais city hall.
