The Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis stood out as a global voice for social justice, human dignity, and dialogue between cultures and religions. His spiritual leadership inspired millions and helped to build bridges between peoples and nations.

IPDAL had the honour of collaborating with the Holy See on initiatives such as the Mafra Dialogues, during which, in 2023, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States, delivered a message of peace on behalf of Pope Francis, emphasising the importance of interreligious dialogue as a tool for peace and diplomacy.

At this time of mourning, IPDAL extends its heartfelt condolences to the Holy See, the Catholic Church, and all the faithful, paying tribute to the legacy of peace, humility, and fraternity left by His Holiness.
