The Embassy of Uruguay, with the support of IPDAL and APAVT, organized a working meeting with the Vice Minister of Tourism of Uruguay, Benjamín Liberoff, and Portuguese companies in the sector. The presentation, which had the theme “Uruguay: meeting place”, introduced those present to the country, its tourist potential, and the weight of Portuguese visitors in its tourist flows. IPDAL and Royal Elcano Institute (RIE) organized a debate dedicated to the “Crisis in Catalonia and Possible Consequences”. IPDAL supported the organization of an academic conference with the former President of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo. At the European University, in Lisbon, the former Head of State spoke about “Globalization in the Era of Populism”. In an auditorium filled with students of various nationalities, Latin American ambassadors and diplomats were present, among other IPDAL guests such as the Representative of the Organization of Ibero-American States in Portugal. For the first time, IPDAL held an international presentation of the conclusions of the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” Meeting. IPDAL was responsible for the visit of students from the Instituto Atlántico de Gobierno to Lisbon. On the 4th and 5th of December, more than 20 young Latin American and Spanish politicians got to know the main Portuguese and international institutions based in Lisbon. IPDAL promoted a program that passed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AICEP, CPLP, Assembly of the Republic and Palácio de Belém. The Institute promoted 16 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean at the APAVT National Congress, in Macau. The 10,000km that separates China from Portugal did not stop IPDAL from ensuring that Latin American and Caribbean destinations continued to be present at the biggest annual meeting of Portuguese tourism. In fact, this sixth consecutive participation of the Institute in the annual APAVT Congresses was the one that brought together the largest number of countries in the region: 16.
