The Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) held a meeting with Hélder da Costa, Secretary-General of the g7+, who was accompanied by his team, with the aim of deepening institutional cooperation and exploring new partnership opportunities in the fields of diplomacy, conflict prevention, and the promotion of multilateralism.
During the meeting, IPDAL President Paulo Neves, accompanied by IPDAL Secretary-General Gastón Ocampo, highlighted the strategic importance of the g7+ as a global partner, underscoring the organization’s international reach and its relevant role in promoting peace, statebuilding, and institutional strengthening across different regions of the world. He also emphasized the example of Timor-Leste as a successful case of international cooperation, valuing the joint contribution of the Timorese people, the United Nations, and Portugal to its institutional consolidation process.
Hélder da Costa expressed the g7+’s willingness to deepen its partnership with IPDAL, including the co-organization of events and participation in joint initiatives. The Secretary-General highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting democracy, diplomacy, and international cooperation, as well as its role as a permanent observer at the United Nations and an associate observer of the CPLP.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss potential collaborations in international initiatives related to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and support for countries in fragile contexts, as well as the development of joint projects with global impact.
This meeting reinforces IPDAL’s position as a platform for international dialogue and an active partner in promoting multilateralism, consolidating its global cooperation strategy and its commitment to strengthening relations between different regions and international organizations.
