IPDAL IN LATIN AMERICA

The President of IPDAL was in Uruguay, having also visited Argentina and Chile, in a week that saw him represent the Institute in several initiatives.

The first stop was in Montevideo where, at the meeting of the Union of Latin American Parties, he defended a common agenda of interests between Latin America and Europe as well as an inter-regional economic alliance between the two regions, defending the Mercosur agreement – European Union a fundamental subject for IPDAL.

This was followed by a meeting in Buenos Aires with the President of the Argentine Council for International Relations, Ambassador José Octávio Bordón, which was also attended by vice-president Francisco Santibanes. IPDAL and CARI thus strengthened their institutional relationship, this being the second time that the Institute has been received at the headquarters of the prestigious Argentine organization.

In Santiago de Chile, the final point of this trip to Latin America, Paulo Neves held brief meetings with the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonia Urrejola, and also had a bilateral meeting with the Director of the Division for Europe from the Ministry, Ambassador Francisco Gormaz Lira.

Still in the Chilean capital, he met with the International Relations Committee of the Instituto Liberdade in a conversation where several former ambassadors participated, chaired by the Executive Director of the Instituto da Liberdade and with the presence of the President of the International Relations Committee.
