The new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation accepted IPDAL’s invitation to dedicate his first meeting with a group of Ambassadors to Latin America.
The initiative allowed Luís Campos Ferreira to present to Latin American diplomatic representatives and the government’s strategic line, in terms of foreign policy, towards the region. The Ambassadors spoke about convergence policies with Portugal, in a dialogue that focused on strengthening relations not only bilaterally but also between economic blocs – MERCOSUR and the European Union.
The meeting took place on the 13th of September, at Grémio Literário, and was attended by the heads of mission of the thirteen Latin American Embassies residing in Portugal, IPDAL sponsors, such as Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Prebuild, from Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic, deputies, businesspeople, Friends and guests of the Institute. This was the first meeting between the new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Heads of Mission of a specific region.
