IPDAL convenes former and current Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers from Latin America, Europe and Africa.
The South Atlantic must be strengthened, more than ever, to balance the emergence of the Pacific and the uncertainty of the North Atlantic.
This is one of the main messages from the participants of the VII Meeting “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa”, which IPDAL organized on the 14th and 15th of May.
The initiative, co-organized with SEGIB and Caixa Geral de Depóstiso, brought together figures such as the current Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Alfonso Dastis, and of Argentina, Jorge Faurie, who sent a video message, the former President of Argentina Federico Ramón Puerta, the former Ibero-American Secretary General Enrique Iglesias, the former Prime Minister of Romania Petre Roman, the former Captain Regent and youngest Head of State in the World Vanessa d’Ambrosio and the Secretary of State for Internationalization of Portugal, in addition to Ministers of Foreign Affairs such as Susana Malcorra, José García Belaunde, Luiz A. Figueiredo Machado, Guillermo Fernández de Soto or António Martins da Cruz, among holders of other ministerial portfolios such as Diego Aulestia, Daniel Proença de Carvalho, Fathallah Oualalou, Jorge Moreira da Silva .
Also participating were the Executive Secretary of the CPLP and former Prime Minister of São Tomé Maria do Carmo Silveira, the Director of the European Parliament in Lisbon, the Director of the North-South Center of the Council of Europe, the most important think tanks and foundations from countries such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, Morocco, as well as institutions and companies such as TAP, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Real Instituto Elcano (RIE), CESO, Grupo Sousa, the European University , the Port of Sines, Amadeus, Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), Indra, the Madeira Development Society, the Cascais City Council , the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (FGC) and Globalmedia.
Organizations such as CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, the International Youth Organization, the Institut Royale des Études Stratégiques (IRES), FIRMA, the Institute for the Relations between European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean (IRELAC) were also present. ), the OCP Policy Center, the Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA), Forum 2000, Fundación Carolina, Fundación Academia Iberoamericana y Europea de Yuste and the United Nations University.
The following five themes were discussed, divided into round tables: Youth and Citizen Participation; Strategic Partnerships; Cities and Digital Economy; Infrastructure and Transport; Diplomacy and Regional Dynamics; Culture, Science and Education.
