Paulo Neves

Born in Funchal, he is the President and founder of IPDAL, the Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, another in Social and Organisational Psychology, and a master’s degree in Organisational Behaviour. He has also completed courses in Journalism, History of International Relations in the 20th Century, and International Politics. He was a teacher for over a decade.

Between 1997 and 1998, he was the director of Diário de Notícias da Madeira. He was co-founder and deputy director of the weekly Euronotícias and worked as an economics and politics journalist for Rádio Renascença from 1999 to 2013. He served as honorary consul of São Tomé and Príncipe from 1998 to 2009. He was honoured by Brazil with the Order of Rio Branco in the rank of Grand Officer, and by Colombia with the Order of San Carlos in the rank of Commander.

As a lecturer, he has taken part in events in Portugal and abroad, and writes regularly in the press about national and international politics. He collaborates with various think tanks and international institutions.

He is currently a Member of the Portuguese Parliament for the Social Democratic Party.
