António Guterres and María Ángela Holguín call for the strengthening of multilateral cooperation, in the eighth edition of the “Strategic Triangle” Meeting.
The Secretary General of the United Nations and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia highlighted their participation in the main platform for political and economic dialogue on the Atlantic, in Portugal. António Guterres sent a video message, where he praised the ability of the three continents to respond to the global challenges facing humanity. María Ángela Holguín analyzed the asymmetries that exist between the vertices of the triangle and defended a commitment to political dialogue, with a view to building a narrative of complementarities.
On the 6th and 7th of May, IPDAL brought together some of the most prominent leaders, decision-makers and representatives from Latin America, Europe and Africa, to debate the topics: Migrations; Gender equality; Knowledge Transfer; Financial Partnerships; European Union Foreign Policy, Triangular Agenda.´
Large companies, multilateral financial institutions, think tanks, foundations and international organizations, former Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Peru and Brazil, the Executive Secretary of the CPLP, the candidates of the main Portuguese parties for the 2019 European elections, as well as ambassadors from the three continents.
To participate in this initiative, ambassadors from Central American and Caribbean countries also traveled to Lisbon.
O policy paper with the conclusions and recommendations of the Meeting should be completed by the end of Summer 2019 and will, as usual, be delivered to the most relevant Portuguese, Ibero-American, European and African authorities.
