Taleb Rifai at the XI Tourism Forum

Former Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization present at the IPDAL initiative.

Taleb Rifai spoke about the economic, social and environmental sustainability of tourism in the 21st century, leaving political messages and strategic reflections for the Latin American ambassadors and businesspeople present. The former head of the United Nations organization congratulated IPDAL for organizing the initiative and expressed his enthusiasm for the Institute’s activities.

The XI Tourism Forum “Portugal – Latin America” was inaugurated by the Secretary of State of the Government of Portugal. Ana Mendes Godinho stated that this forum “is already a classic” and considered that this type of initiative has been decisive in strengthening relations between the country and the region.

The President of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Araújo, also expressed his enthusiasm for the IPDAL initiative and assured that he continues to work to bring the country even closer to Latin America.

Deloitte held a presentation on “Tourism Sustainability Axis”, where it shared some of the most current analyzes on the evolution of the sector in Portugal, in addition to releasing forecasts and conclusions that are very useful for tourism companies and agencies.

IPDAL is especially grateful to the Embassy of Chile, Guest Country of this XI edition of the Tourism Forum, to Deloitte, to Iberia, which actively participated for the first time in an Institute initiative, to Caixa Geral de Depósitos and to the European University. The initiative ended with a wine of honor, courtesy of the Chilean Embassy in Portugal.
