The new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation presented himself to the Group of Latin American Ambassadors, in an initiative of IPDAL.

On May 20th, Dr. Francisco Almeida Leite accepted IPDAL’s invitation to speak about the Government’s foreign policy in terms of diplomatic relations with Latin America and highlighted the evolution of Portugal’s relationship with these States.

The newly inaugurated ruler took note of the questions and comments from the diplomatic corps present and responded, individually, to each of the representatives. The Ambassadors of twelve countries, a Minister Counselor and the Honorary Consul of Belize were present.

This was the first meeting of the new SENEC with a group of Ambassadors accredited in Portugal. Also present at this initiative was the deputy to the Assembly of the Republic and former Deputy Secretary of State of the Deputy Minister and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Feliciano Barreiras Duarte.
