IPDAL held a working meeting between the President of Camões – Institute for Cooperation and the Portuguese Language – and the group of ambassadors from Latin America.

The initiative served to inform the Latin American diplomatic corps of the vision and priorities of the new president of Camões. Ambassador João Ribeiro de Almeida explained the strategy
of development cooperation that it intends to pursue, as well as the way in which it intends to implement policies to promote the Portuguese language and culture abroad.

Knowledgeable about the region, having been Portugal’s ambassador to Colombia and Argentina, the Portuguese diplomat also praised the wealth of human capital he found in Latin America, which is one of the areas of action in which he intends to intervene, specifically in education and health. .
The President of Camões also highlighted his interest in promoting more triangular projects between countries in Latin America and Africa, in particular the CPLP, and in following the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the environmental and climate area.
