Launch of the 12th edition of the Atlantic Currents report

Gastón Ocampo, Secretary-General of IPDAL, took part in the launch of the 12th edition of the Atlantic Currents report in the context of his participation in the Atlantic Dialogues 2025, an initiative organised by the Policy Center for the New South.

As part of the panel “The Wider Atlantic: Building Partnerships in an Era of Instability”, the discussion focused on the main trends reshaping the Wider Atlantic, namely geopolitical fragmentation, energy transitions and persistent regional asymmetries, within an international context marked by growing instability and strategic competition.

The session highlighted the urgency of building new political, economic and institutional bridges between Africa, Europe and the Americas, reinforcing the need for coordinated responses and enhanced cooperation in the face of emerging global challenges.

The participation of IPDAL’s Secretary-General was particularly significant given his role as author of a sub-chapter of the 12th edition of the Atlantic Currents report, included in the chapter “Connectivity as a Driver of Integration”, entitled “Lessons from Triangular Cooperation in São Tomé and Príncipe”. This contribution revisits the project of the Triangular Cooperation Fund for the Digital Transformation of Príncipe, developed in partnership with the Ibero-American General Secretariat and Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua. This contribution also reflects the strategic partnership between IPDAL and the Policy Center for the New South in strengthening transatlantic dialogue and academic and institutional cooperation.

The Atlantic Currents report stands as a reference platform for international analysis and dialogue, bringing together expert contributions and promoting an integrated approach to the challenges and opportunities of the Wider Atlantic.
