The Institute made a donation to support the victims of the earthquake that, in April 2016, hit Ecuador. IPDAL joined the Caritas initiative to help in the effort to rescue victims, build shelters for the displaced population, provide food aid, hygiene items, water and sanitation, and material recovery of populations affected by the earthquake that killed more than 600 people .

According to the official website, “Cáritas Portuguesa has already sent €25,000.00 to Cáritas Ecuador and is currently also developing a campaign so that all Portuguese Cáritas, parishes and communities can also contribute to alleviating the difficult situation experienced in the country and to so that the Ecuadorian people can start rebuilding their lives.”
