On June 19, 2015, IPDAL and the Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve formalized the relationship that began to be built in 2012. The agreement provides for the participation of the Port of Sines in IPDAL’s main initiatives and closer cooperation in all activities that are relevant to the Porto’s objectives and strategy.
On the same day, Sines Port Day was celebrated, which the President and Secretary General of IPDAL were part of. As part of these celebrations, the Institute’s directors visited ZALSINES’ new logistics facility and Sitank’s new temperature-controlled warehouse. The day culminated with the signing of the protocol.
The President of IPDAL recalled that “the Port of Sines is the main deep-water port in the country and the largest national export port. Every year it breaks records for growth in container traffic, being a genuine platform between the European, African and Latin American continents”.
It is worth remembering that the Port of Sines was the one that grew the most worldwide in 2014, in container handling, and that it entered the group of the 120 largest ports in the world, in this segment of activity.
In 2012, IPDAL took a group of Latin American ambassadors on an official visit to the Port of Sines.
