IPDAL presents Study with Real Instituto Elcano

IPDAL, in partnership with the Real Instituto Elcano and the European University, presented the report “Why does Latin America matter?”.

The guest speaker for the conference was Professor Carlos Malamud, senior researcher at the Elcano Institute and study coordinator.

The European University hosted the Conference, which took place in the presence of representatives from the various Latin American embassies, the European Commission and the European Parliament, several academics and specialists in Latin American themes, as well as other actors from Portuguese civil society and students from different universities.

On March 28th, the President of IPDAL, Paulo Neves, made a point of thanking the European University and the Real Instituto Elcano for their support, two institutions that frequently collaborate with IPDAL in promoting Latin America in Portugal and Europe.

During the presentation of the report, Professor and Researcher Carlos Malamud also praised the work of IPDAL, highlighting the initiatives in which the Institute brings Europe, Latin America and Africa closer together.

It was explained which economic factors in Latin America should be relevant to Europe, advances in biregional trade, negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union, as well as agreements between European countries and specific Latin countries. Methods to strengthen this relationship were also exemplified, as well as the investment areas with the greatest potential in Latin America.
