IPDAL participates in OEI initiative on human development, innovation, and international cooperation

The Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) participated in a working breakfast organized by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), under the theme “Human development, digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive growth: the role of partnerships,” which took place on February 12, 2026, at Teatro Thalia, in Lisbon. IPDAL was represented by its President, Paulo Neves, and Secretary-General, Gastón Ocampo, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to international cooperation and to strengthening relations within the Ibero-American space.

The session included remarks by Ana Isabel Xavier, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who highlighted the strategic role of international cooperation in promoting sustainable development, as well as the importance of partnerships between countries and institutions in addressing contemporary global challenges.

The intervention of Andrés Delich, OEI Deputy Secretary-General, was also noteworthy. He underscored the central role of education, training, and productivity as drivers of sustainable development. He emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation as an essential instrument to promote more inclusive and resilient societies, grounded in knowledge and innovation.

One of the key moments of the initiative was the presentation by Ana Paula Laborinho, Director of OEI in Portugal, who presented an overview of the organization’s activities in 2025 and its outlook for 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from public institutions, international organizations, and strategic partners, fostering a space for dialogue and reflection on the role of partnerships in promoting human development, digital transformation, and inclusive growth.

IPDAL’s participation in this OEI initiative reinforces its position as an active platform for promoting international dialogue and strengthening relations between Portugal, Latin America, and the Ibero-American space, contributing to the development of strategic partnerships focused on cooperation and sustainable development.
