IPDAL meets with Minister of Paraguay

The President and Secretary General of IPDAL were received by the Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Gustavo Leite, on June 27th, in Lisbon.

The Ambassador of Paraguay in Portugal, Luis Fretes, was also present at this meeting. The Minister was on an official visit to Portugal.

The meeting identified the economic areas that the government of Paraguay wishes to be included in the next Business Mission to Paraguay, which will be organized by IPDAL with the support of the Government and the Embassy in Portugal.

The President of IPDAL had previously held a meeting with Gustavo Leite before he was appointed minister. It was during a visit, in 2013, to Paraguay shortly after the presidential elections. Gustavo Leite was part of the Transition Team. At the time he received, in Asuncion, the President of IPDAL.

Paulo Neves highlighted this ministerial visit as “demonstrating the importance that Paraguay attributes to Portugal”. Paulo Neves recalled that last year, at a business Summit that took place in Panama City, he held a meeting with President Cartes of Paraguay and that he conveyed his support in strengthening relations between Paraguay and Portugal.

During this visit by the Minister of Industry to Portugal, in addition to the meeting with IPDAL, the Minister of Industry was present at a meeting with a large group of Portuguese businesspeople. At the end there was an official lunch hosted by the Ambassador of Paraguay in Portugal. The President of IPDAL was present.
