IPDAL launched the next phase of its growth, with a working lunch with Caribbean ambassadors in Brussels.
On December 12th, the Secretary General of IPDAL was the special guest at the monthly lunch of CARIFORUM, a group of Caribbean Ambassadors, to present the Institute’s project and begin working with this group of countries. The invitation, which came from the Ambassador of Jamaica, pro-tempore coordinator of CARIFORUM in Brussels, demonstrates the receptivity and interest of these ambassadors in developing relations with Portugal, through the Institute.
This was IPDAL’s first step to work with Caribbean countries, as it has done in the last 10 years with Latin American states, promoting them in the business, institutional, academic and cultural spheres.
At lunch, there were ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and also Trinidad and Tobago.
The participation of these countries in the IPDAL activities already planned for 2017 was discussed, as well as the organization of specific initiatives to promote the Caribbean region and even some of the individual countries.
Starting next year, IPDAL will be called “Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean”.
