I Symposium on Spanish and Portuguese Languages

The President and Secretary General of IPDAL were at the Meeting, organized by SEGIB , which brought together the Business Ministers of Portugal and Spain.

On June 6th, the 1st Symposium on Spanish and Portuguese languages took place, where experts gathered to analyze the presence of the two languages on a global scale and debate the potential for interconnection between Portuguese and Castilian.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ibero-American Secretary General, Rebeca Grynspan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva, the Spanish counterpart Alfonso Dastis, the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo , the director of the Royal Spanish Language Academy, Darío Villanueva, and the director of the International Institute of the Portuguese Language, Marisa de Mendonça.

In Madrid, the first initiative of its kind was carried out to “boost bilingualism”, with the aim of strengthening the Ibero-American community, making it the most interconnected and most capable of generating development, prosperity and sustainable exchanges between its peoples .

It is precisely with these objectives that IPDAL has maintained contacts with various Spanish and Latin American institutions for several years.

Portugal was also represented by the President of Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language .
