Earthquake in Guatemala

IPDAL stands in solidarity with the Republic of Guatemala after the biggest earthquake in more than 35 years hit the country.

The Central American state was hit by a strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale, which left more than 50 dead and dozens missing. The natural disaster also affected more than 6 million people, mainly due to failures in energy and water distribution services.

After the earthquake on the 7th, aftershocks were felt during the following days, the most significant being on Sunday, November 11th. A 6.1 earthquake, with its epicenter on the Pacific coast, destroyed around 10,000 homes and was felt in El Salvador and the Mexican state of Chiapas.
Remember that the earthquake on the 7th was the strongest to hit Guatemala since 1976.
