A decade after starting to hold the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” Meetings, the Institute made a decisive contribution to the affirmation of the triangular agenda of the South Atlantic, discussing the theme: Economic Recovery and Global Health.

On February 23 and 24, equity in the global distribution of vaccines and the revitalization of multilateralism in the post-covid era were discussed, good practices and concrete experiences of cooperation between the pharmaceutical industry, States and regulators were presented, proposals were made to political instruments to strengthen interregional dialogue between the three vertices of the triangle, recent problems in integration processes were analyzed and the way in which the pandemic exposed the fractures of these systems, the role of multilateral organizations in the recovery of the present crisis and formulas were systematized to reconcile the legitimate interests of economic agents in the health sector with the need to serve the population.
At the end of the initiative, which was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Chile and Portugal, as well as the Ibero-American Secretary General, the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union were also discussed, the creation of an Atlantic alliance aimed at the challenges of South, and the case study of Chile was presented as a model of successful vaccination in an equitable and universal manner.

Participating in the X Meeting “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” were the World Bank, CAF, IDB, SEGIB, Real Instituto Elcano, EU-LAC Foundation, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Order of Pharmacists, APIFARMA, CESO, OEI, CPLP, Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, among others.
