Round Table | Portugal–Latin America and the Caribbean

On 21 November 2024, the Grémio Literário in Lisbon hosted the 2nd edition of the Round Table Portugal–Latin America and the Caribbean, an initiative that brought together high-level representatives to discuss strengthening relations between Portugal and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event, which began at 10:30 am with a reception and networking session, featured the participation of key Portuguese and international institutions, including AICEP (Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency), Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, the Organisation of Ibero-American States, and CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.

All the Latin American and Caribbean Embassies based in Portugal were also in attendance, contributing to a rich discussion on opportunities for cooperation in trade, development, and culture.

The second part of the event was marked by an address from the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (SENEC), Dr Nuno Sampaio, who highlighted the historical and cultural ties between Portugal and the region. The interactive dialogue between the SENEC and the ambassadors further reinforced the mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral and multisectoral relations.

The Round Table has solidified its position as a crucial platform for the exchange of ideas and joint initiatives, establishing Portugal as a strategic partner for the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
