The Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) took part in the international debate “Ukraine 2026: Scenarios for Diplomacy, Defense and Escalation”, organized by ICDD–USA and the Independent Experts’ Peace Initiative (IEPI).
The event, held in a closed format and under the Chatham House Rule, brought together 26 analysts, diplomats, and international experts to discuss possible scenarios for the evolution of the conflict in Ukraine — ranging from the continuation of a prolonged war to potential ceasefire or global escalation scenarios.
IPDAL was represented by its advisor Gastón Ocampo, who was invited to moderate the panel “Escalation and Strategic Shifts”, analyzing the potential drivers behind the expansion of the conflict and the implications for relations between Russia and NATO.
This participation follows the ongoing collaboration between IPDAL and IEPI within the framework of the Expert Peace Initiative, launched during the Mafra Dialogues in March 2025, where both institutions presented proposals for a more inclusive and strategic peace diplomacy.
Through this engagement, IPDAL reaffirms its commitment to multilateral dialogue, preventive diplomacy, and the promotion of global peace, strengthening its role as a bridge between Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
