Between 20 and 25 September, the Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) was the only Portuguese institute invited to join an international delegation visiting Kyiv, at the invitation of Ukrainian Prism and Eastern Circles. Representing IPDAL, Cátia Moreira de Carvalho joined a group of members of think tanks, governments and academics from various countries, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to international debate and co-operation.
For five days, the delegation took part in strategic meetings with representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as meetings with start-ups and non-governmental organisations involved in the war effort. These interactions allowed for a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by Ukraine and opened up space for future collaborations.
IPDAL’s participation in this high-level initiative underlines the institute’s growing international recognition and reinforces Portugal’s prestige on the diplomatic scene. The links established with different Ukrainian organisations will help to strengthen support and cooperation with the country at a critical moment in its history.
