IPDAL participates in the 7th Atlantic Centre Seminar

The Secretary-General of IPDAL, Gastón Ocampo, and the Vice-President of the General Assembly, Rui Salgado Alves, took part in the 7th Atlantic Centre Seminar, dedicated to the theme “Climate Change and Security Challenges in the Atlantic”, held at the Maritime Museum in Lisbon.

The seminar brought together policymakers, academics, government representatives and international organisations to discuss the growing impact of climate change on maritime security and coastal communities across the Atlantic. The event reinforced the view that extreme weather events and environmental degradation pose multidimensional risks that affect Atlantic nations unevenly, requiring cooperative and coordinated responses.

The Atlantic Centre also presented the research project “Climate Change and Security Challenges”, which will produce a report with public policy recommendations on climate impacts in the Atlantic, incorporating regional and multidisciplinary perspectives.

IPDAL’s participation demonstrates its commitment to multilateral dialogue and to promoting policies that combine sustainability, security and development in the Atlantic space, while underlining its dedication to strengthening collaboration between both institutions, following up on the Memorandum signed last summer.
