IPDAL participates in dialogues on democracy and interregional cooperation

The Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL) participated in virtual dialogues organized by the Club de Madrid and the Atlantic Council, as part of the joint initiative “From Fragmentation to Cooperation: Democracy and Multilateralism in the 2025 EU–CELAC and Americas Summits.”

The meetings brought together political leaders, diplomats, and international experts to reflect on the challenges of interregional cooperation in a global context marked by intensifying geopolitical rivalry, the impact of hybrid and digital threats on democracies, and the growing role of external actors in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IPDAL emphasized the importance of seizing the current political momentum to advance the ratification of the EU–Mercosur Agreement and to strengthen the implementation of the European Global Gateway initiative, as key instruments for a more balanced and sustainable strategic partnership between the two regions.

The dialogues — titled “Interregional Cooperation in a Fragmented World: Security, Geopolitics, and Democratic Resilience” (September 29) and “Towards a Shared Agenda: Regional Priorities and Transatlantic Cooperation for Development” (October 15) — aim to contribute concrete proposals to strengthen democratic resilience and promote a more effective and inclusive multilateralism.
