Portugal–LAT Dialogue Roundtable

Lisbon hosted a new edition of the Portugal–Latin America and Caribbean Dialogue Roundtable, an initiative promoted by the Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL), bringing together high-level governmental, diplomatic, and institutional representatives to discuss the main challenges and opportunities in bi-regional relations.

The meeting featured interventions by Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Ana Isabel Xavier, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Mr Hugo Francisco Rivera Fernández, and the Director of the Organisation of Ibero-American States in Portugal, Dr Ana Paula Laborinho.

The session highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between Portugal and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, fostering a constructive dialogue on education, digitalisation, sustainability, and responsible investment – key pillars for shared development and for consolidating a more cohesive and cooperative Atlantic space.

Through this initiative, IPDAL reaffirms its role as a platform for political dialogue and economic diplomacy, contributing to stronger ties between Portugal, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and promoting a more inclusive, sustainable, and united Atlantic.
