XII STRATEGIC TRIANGLE MEETING UNITES PORTUGAL'S MNE WITH PARAGUAY AND SEGIB

On February 28 and March 1, IPDAL organized the 12th edition of the “Strategic Triangle: Latin America – Europe – Africa” meeting.

This initiative, organized since 2012, once again brought together some of the world’s most influential personalities and organizations to discuss international cooperation opportunities between the three continents.

The Foreign Ministers of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, and Paraguay, Julio Arriola, discussed the new geopolitical balances in the Atlantic area with the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand.

Other participants included the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, the Secretary General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, Georges Chikoti, the Vice-President of the Republic of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa, the President of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, Sergio Díaz-Granados, the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, Ricardo Mourinho Félix, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UNITEL, Aguinaldo Jaime.

Some of the most important international foundations and think tanks dedicated to analyzing foreign policy and geostrategic challenges were also present, including the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Royal Elcano Institute, the Policy Center for the New South, the Italian-Latin American Institute, the EU-LAC Foundation, the Organization of Ibero-American States and the Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Naumann Foundations.

The “Strategic Triangle” meetings are the main platform for political and economic discussion on the Atlantic in Portugal, where the main threats and opportunities for international cooperation between the states and economic agents of the three regions are analyzed each year.

The event was organized jointly with SEGIB and received support from the European University, the European Investment Bank, CAF – Latin American Development Bank, CESO, CJR Renewables, Cunha Vaz & Associados, EU-LAC Foundation, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Azevedos Group, Iberia, Italian-Latin American Institute, Mota-Engil, Real Instituto Elcano, and OEI.
