IPDAL expresses its solidarity with the Federative Republic of Brazil, following the tragic incident that killed more than 200 people in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

On Sunday, January 27th, a fire broke out in a nightclub, where mostly young university students were present. The fire started when a pyrotechnic device, launched during a concert, hit the ceiling of the club. Most of the victims ended up dying from asphyxiation.

President Dilma Roussef, who was at the ECLAC-EU Summit in Chile, anticipated her return and decreed three days of national mourning.
This was the fire that caused the most deaths in Brazil in more than 50 years.
