IPDAL holds First Meeting "Latin America - CPLP"

An unprecedented initiative, organized by IPDAL and attended by the Secretary of State for Finance, allowed the Ambassadors of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and those from Latin America to debate the state of their political, diplomatic and economic relationship.

On November 14, 2014, IPDAL and the Society for Development Financing (SOFID) brought together the diplomatic representatives of the two blocs and the main Portuguese companies with interests in these regions.

The president of IPDAL highlighted the role that Portugal should assume as the main mediator of this triangulation. This idea was corroborated by the Secretary of State for Finance, whose intervention referred to the new paradigm of Portuguese growth, based on a policy of lower debt and greater external relations, supported by an increase in exports.

This meeting also served to announce the opening of Latin American diplomatic representations in Portuguese-speaking African countries, in addition to the request for associate observer member status of the CPLP.
